What’s New at Survival Guides UK? We’ve Been Busy!
Last updated: 21/09/2026
If you’ve visited Survival Guides UK recently, you may have noticed that things have been changing.
Over the last few months we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make the website easier to use, more interactive and, most importantly, more useful for our community.
We’ve added quite a few new features — and we’re not finished yet!
So, here’s a look at what’s new.
🧭 New Category Hub Pages
Finding the right information should be easy.
We’ve now created dedicated hub pages for each of our main categories, giving you a central place to explore everything available in that area.
Instead of having to hunt around the website, you can head to the relevant hub and find the guides, resources and other content that you’re looking for.
It’s a much easier way to explore Survival Guides UK, particularly as the site continues to grow.
📸 Create Your Own Social Wall
We wanted to give our members somewhere to share their own adventures too.
Members can now have a social wall where they can post updates and upload photos from their adventures, activities and experiences.
You can choose whether your wall is open or private, giving you control over who can see what you share.
It’s a great way to document your adventures and see what other members of the Survival Guides UK community are getting up to.
👥 Follow Other Members
We’ve also introduced the ability to follow and unfollow other member accounts.
As the community grows, this makes it easier to keep up with the people and adventures that interest you.
You can manage who you follow directly from member profiles.
📣 Found Something Useful? Share It!
You’ll now find social sharing buttons at the bottom of our posts.
If you’ve found a guide, activity or resource useful, we’d really appreciate it if you shared it with your friends, fellow leaders, Scout groups or anyone else who might find it useful.
It only takes a moment, but it helps us get Survival Guides UK in front of more people and allows the community to grow.
So if you find something useful — please share it!
🏆 Challenges, Badges & Quizzes
We’ve been adding more ways to make learning and exploring the site fun.
You can now take part in challenges and quizzes, with badges to earn along the way.
And we’re regularly adding more.
Some challenges are designed to test your knowledge, while others give you something to work towards as you explore the different areas of Survival Guides UK.
There are also member-only challenges, giving registered members access to challenges that aren’t available to everyone.
So if you’re enjoying the challenges, there’s even more reason to become a member.
🥇 Can You Reach the Top of the Leaderboard?
We’ve also introduced a community points leaderboard.
As you take part in activities around the site, you can build up your points and see how you’re progressing alongside other members of the community.
It’s a bit of friendly competition — and another reason to keep exploring, learning and taking part.
Who knows… you might find yourself at the top!
👤 Your Profile, Your Achievements
Member profiles have also had a makeover.
Your profile now gives you somewhere to showcase your activity on Survival Guides UK, with dedicated sections for things such as:
- 🏅 Badges you’ve earned
- 👥 Members you follow
- 📸 Your social wall
- ℹ️ Your About section
As you use the site and take part in the community, your profile becomes a record of what you’ve achieved and what you’re interested in.
👥 New: Community Groups
And there’s more for members to get involved with.
Members can now create their own groups, making it easier to bring together people with shared interests, activities and adventures within Survival Guides UK.
Whether it’s a group for a particular Scout section, local outdoor enthusiasts, a specific activity, or simply people who share a particular interest, community groups give members another way to connect, share experiences and build their own communities.
Community Groups are now live! So if there’s a group you’d like to start, head over and create one.
You can view all the current groups or start your own community group here.
📧 New: Get a Skill and Challenge Every Week
Want to keep building your skills even when you’re not out on an adventure?
You can now subscribe to the Survival Guides UK email and receive something new every week.
Each email includes a practical skill to learn or improve, along with a challenge to put that skill into practice.
It could be something you can try at home, outdoors, with friends, or as part of your next adventure. The aim is simple: learn something useful, then have a go at it yourself.
It’s a great way to keep learning, keep practising and discover new things to try — one week at a time.

A new skill. A new challenge. Every week.
🚀 And We’re Not Finished Yet…
All of these changes are part of our bigger goal for Survival Guides UK.
We don’t want it to simply be a website where you come to read a guide and then leave.
We want to build a community around outdoor skills, survival, Scouting, adventure and learning — somewhere you can discover useful information, challenge yourself, share your experiences and connect with other people who enjoy the same things.
And we’re always looking for ways to make it better.
💡 Have an Idea?
One of the things we’d really like is to hear from you.
If there’s a feature you’d love to see on Survival Guides UK, or something you think would make the website more useful, easier to use or more enjoyable, let us know.
We can’t promise we’ll be able to build every suggestion, but we’re always happy to hear your ideas and look into what might be possible.
After all, Survival Guides UK is being built for the people who use it.
