DAY 7

Day 7 — Final Survival Challenge

You’ve reached the final day of the Survival Challenge.

Today you’ll bring together the skills you’ve developed throughout the challenge, including survival mindset, equipment, knots, emergency shelter, fire and water safety, and navigation. You’ll use what you’ve learned to assess a situation, plan your response and decide which skills and resources are most appropriate.

The aim isn’t to prove that you can survive a dangerous situation. It’s to show that you can think, plan and make sensible decisions using the skills you’ve learned.

Take on the final challenge and put your outdoor survival knowledge and decision-making skills to the test.

📖 Learn the Skill

A good survival plan starts with the basics:

STOP — Stop and avoid making the situation worse.

THINK — Assess your surroundings, weather, resources and immediate risks.

PLAN — Decide what you need to do and what help may be available.

ACT — Carry out your plan safely and reassess if circumstances change.

Think back over the previous six days before attempting today’s challenge.

🎯 Today’s Challenge

Imagine you’re on a day walk when the weather changes unexpectedly and you realise that your planned route is no longer suitable.

You have your survival kit with you and need to decide what to do next.

Create a short survival plan covering:

1. Mindset
What would you do first to stay calm and assess the situation?

2. Equipment
Which three items from your kit would be most useful?

3. Shelter
What would you consider when choosing somewhere to shelter?

4. Fire & Water
What safety considerations would you make regarding fire and water?

5. Navigation
How would you decide whether to continue, change your route or seek help?

6. Emergency response
When would you decide that you needed outside help?

Bonus challenge: Explain the single most important lesson you’ve learned during the seven-day challenge and why.

Safety note: This is a planning exercise. Do not deliberately put yourself into a dangerous situation to test your skills. If you are genuinely lost, injured or in danger, seek appropriate emergency assistance.

🧠 Final Knowledge Check

Before completing the final challenge, test what you’ve learned across the previous six days.

You need to score 100% to complete the knowledge check. Don’t worry if you don’t get everything right first time — review the relevant lessons and try again.
